Street dancer bids for stardom

A student is set for a crack at stardom when he takes centre stage at a national street dance competition on Sunday.

Kundai Dzawo (pictured centre) 18, of Rochester Road, Gravesend will line up as a finalist in Schwarzkopf’s Street Dance: The Search, which will be held at the KOKO club in Camden.

The judging panel at the competition includes BBC’s So You Think You Can Dance’s Sisco Gomez and Britain’s Got Talent star Tobias Mead.

Kundai, who has been performing for three years, is competing for a £10,000 contract and the opportunity to work with the industry’s leading professionals.

The St John’s Catholic Comprehensive School student first got the taste for dancing hip hop routines after an impromptu performance with a friend at Northfleet Technology College.

He made his way to final after impressing judges at the Kent regional heats at Bluewater in February.
