'Suicide risk' person talked down from Thamesgate Shopping Centre in Gravesend

A person deemed a "suicide risk" has been talked down from the top of a shopping centre.

Police confirmed they had "successfully negotiated" with the person at the Thamesgate Shopping Centre in Gravesend.

Teams from British Transport Police, Kent Police and South East Coast ambulance service attended the scene this evening.

Initial details of the incident were revealed in a tweet by Kent Police Gravesham.

It said: "Very busy start to the night for team 5.

"PC TUBBY + PC MUNDAY along with colleagues from team 5, @BTPKent and @KentSpecials have successfully negotiated a suicide risk from Thamesgate Shopping Centre and @SECAmbulance are now aiding officers #NotJustCrime JA."

Police spokesman Sally Smith said: "We were called to Thamesgate Shopping Centre, in Gravesend at 4.40pm yesterday, following a report that a woman was sitting on the wall of the top storey of a carpark.

"The woman came down from the wall at 6.14pm and was taken to hospital."
