Suspected thief thought to have targeted Iceland in Overcliffe and Asda in Thames Way, Gravesend

A suspect has appeared in court charged with the theft of spirits worth more than £140 and groceries worth £220 from supermarkets.

Nrender Biriah, of no fixed address, appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, January 26 charged with three thefts and five breaches of a criminal behaviour order following the thefts from stores in Gravesend.

On Monday, January 22, a man reportedly tried to steal bottles of spirits worth more than £140 from Asda in Thames Way, Gravesend.

Groceries and other items valued at around £220 were allegedly stolen from Iceland in Overcliffe, Gravesend, over the following two days.

On Wednesday, January 24 a suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

Biriah, 48, was later charged.

He is remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on March 8.
