Lanes now open on A227 Wrotham Road, Gravesend following accident involving van and a motorbike

A rush-hour crash involving a van and a motorbike that closed three lanes on the A2 London-bound has now been cleared.

There was queuing traffic back to the M2 Junction 1 for Strood following the collision near the junction for A227 Wrotham Road in Gravesend by the Tollgate Services.

Lanes two, three and four were closed and motorists faced congestion to Cobham with travel time taking around 25 minutes.

A police spokesman said: "Police were called at 6.33am to a report of a collision between a van and a motorbike on the A2 London-bound, near Gravesend.

"The incident caused an obstruction in a live carriageway, however no serious injuries were reported and the scene is now clear."

South East Coast Ambulance Service were also in attendance.

Meanwhile in Dartford the A2 coast-bound was partially blocked due to a crash before the A2018 Old Bexley Lane at Dartford Heath.

The road has now cleared and traffic is easing.
