Orpington suspect charged after victim attacked and forced into car during robbery in York Road, Northfleet

A robbery suspect has been charged after allegedly attacking a person and forcing them into a car to drive to a cashpoint.

A man was reported to have entered a house in York Road, Northfleet, at around 11.30pm last Tuesday (March 5).

While inside he is alleged to have threatened the victim and demanded money.

It was also reported that during the robbery he assaulted them and caused damage to the property.

The offender is alleged to have made the victim get into a car to drive to a nearby cashpoint.

However, the suspect collided with a stationary car and fled.

Police launched an investigation and last Wednesday (March 6), a man was arrested.

Billy Friend, 43, of Star Lane, Orpington, has been charged with robbery, criminal damage, kidnap, aggravated vehicle taking and injury caused by accident and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, among other charges.

He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court last Friday (March 8) and was remanded in custody.

His next hearing will be at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, April 5.
