The search is on for heroes who have gone above and beyond to make a difference to their community.

Nominations are now open for the Gravesham Civic and Community Awards 2022.

The annual awards scheme is an opportunity to appreciate and recognise the many individuals and groups who give their time to make Gravesham a great place to live work and visit. The Gravesham Civic and Community Awards are run by Gravesham council.

Cllr Shane Mochrie-Cox, Gravesham council’s cabinet member for community and leisure, said: “There are many individuals and groups who work tirelessly to make a significant and positive contribution to the lives of those who live and work in Gravesham.

“These awards are a celebration of these efforts and the chance for us as a community to say thank you.

"This year we are acknowledging and celebrating the people who have made a difference for our community through the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.

“These awards celebrate the difference people have made in the short term and long term, no matter if it’s the past six weeks, months, or years.

“In past years people have been rewarded for work in academic, sporting, artistic and cultural fields, as well as those who have worked to improve the quality of life for local people.”

Last year's winners included many who had given up their time to support those in need through the pandemic. And Olympic gold medallist Kate French, who won the Modern Pentathlon in Tokyo, was awarded a Special Achievement Award.

Nominations close on Monday, March 28 with the awards to be presented at Annual Council and Mayor-making ceremony in May.
