A woman has died one week after being involved in a road collision in Longfield.

The 77-year-old was driving a red Vauxhall Corsa when it collided with a red Ford Fiesta in New Barn Road last Thursday.

Police issued a statement this afternoon saying the woman had now died.

The accident happened at 12pm. A man was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed off for four hours while forensic officers examined the scene.

Police are investigating the collision and have made a renewed appeal for witnesses.

PC Guy Ditcher, who is investigating the incident, said: "Initial reports suggest a red Ford Fiesta collided with a red Vauxhall Corsa travelling in the opposite direction towards Northfleet along New Barn Road.

"We would like to hear from anyone that may have seen the incident, or events leading up to it, as they could help us with our investigation."

Anyone who may have seen the collision is asked to contact police on 01622 798538.
