Preston Edwards has vowed to put a smile back on the faces of Ebbsfleet fans after signing a new contract at the club this week.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper became Steve Brown’s most important signing of the summer when he committed to another year at Stonebridge Road on Tuesday.

Edwards has been promoted, relegated and sent-off inside 10 seconds during three eventful seasons in the Fleet goal.

The club is close to his heart and with the backing of new owners, Edwards is determined to be the goalkeeper who lifts the Conference South championship trophy next April.

He said: "I signed because I want to win the league. The new owners have got ambitious plans for next season and I want to be part of that. The plan is to go full-time, especially if we get promotion.

"I'm proud to sign for Ebbsfleet. Hopefully, we can continue our journey together and make this team successful again. I want to put a smile on people's faces, people who pay their hard-earned money to watch Ebbsfleet."
