Ebbsfleet United boss Daryl McMahon on his search for a new striker

Daryl McMahon has his eye on a new striker but may have to wait until January to bring him to Ebbsfleet.

McMahon said after Fleet's 3-0 win over Hartlepool that he'd like to sign another centre-forward to give captain and top scorer Danny Kedwell some support.

He's since allowed Danny Mills to leave the club on loan while Bradley Bubb and Febian Brandy are both working their way back to fitness.

Fleet return to National League action on Saturday with a home game against Guiseley but the manager insists patience is key if they want to add quality up front.

"It's not something we're going to dive into," McMahon said. "It'll be something we take our time on.

"I don't think we're desperate right now so we'll see what becomes available into January.

"There's one I like but he's injured at the minute. It wouldn't be right to bring him in yet.

"It's just timing. It's difficult to get a striker midway through the season. Goalscorers are hard to come by unless you're really going to lump some money on somebody in terms of a transfer fee, which we haven't got.

"It will be someone we bring in on a free or on loan and we've got to get the right one."
