A man's body was found in a drainage ditch in a field in Herne Bay yesterday afternoon.

The man is yet to be identified but it is believed that he is from the Thanet area and had been reported missing earlier this month.

A member of the public made the discovery in the ditch behind Chartwell Avenue in Beltinge and reported it to police around 5.30pm.

Police have cordoned off a section of the field and are still at the scene today.

The death of the man is being treated as unexplained pending the outcome of a post-mortem examination.

Enquiries are ongoing to confirm his identity.
