Adrian Stroud Herne Bay death crash: Man arrested will not be charged

A man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal car crash in Herne Bay will not be charged, say police.

The 20-year-old from Sittingbourne had been questioned about the circumstances of a collision in which Adrian Stroud died on the Old Thanet Way.

Mr Stroud, 23, from Margate, was driving a VW Golf which was involved in a three-car collision at the junction with Eddington Lane in the early hours of April 19.

Emergency crews attended at 12.30am, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man and woman had to be cut from a Range Rover and were also injured.

The driver arrested was said to have been at the wheel of a Vauxhall Corsa and had been on bail since his arrest.

But following a six-month investigation, police said this week he had been released without charge.

Mr Stroud’s father, warehouseman Andy Stroud, admitted he was “not happy” about the decision but did not wish to comment further.
