Girl questioned after bid to set shelter alight

POLICE think a dog walker may have seen a group of children attempting to set fire to a shelter along Central Parade, Herne Bay, at around 7am last Friday.

No actual damage was caused to the shelter but after a call to police a group of four children aged 13 and 14 were arrested in connection with the attempted arson.

A 13-year-old girl has been questioned and given police bail. The others were released without charge.
