A Kent County Council highways spokesman says part of the route between the St Nicholas at Wade roundabout and its junction with Margate Road was closed for fuel spilled from the lorry to be cleared.

He said: "The London-bound carriageway is partially blocked by a jack-knifed lorry.

"Kent Police, Kent Fire & Rescue and KCC Highways are attending.

"The A299 Thanet way will be closed shortly between the St Nicholas at Wade Roundabout and Margate Road Junction to enable clear up of a large fuel spillage.

"Please use an alternative route."
