Men in court after police chase

Two men appeared in court on Wednesday after a police chase through Herne Bay on Monday night.

Robert Mitchell, 22, of no fixed address, has been remanded in custody.

He is charged with dangerous driving, robbery, assaulting a police officer, drink-driving, criminal damage and driving with no insurance.

Michael O’Shea, 23, of Hawe Close, Canterbury, faced one charge of aggravated vehicle taking and was given conditional bail.

Police gave chase after a VW Polo belonging to Barry Moss was reported stolen from the Neptune car park at 11pm on Monday.

Mitchell and O’Shea appeared separately before Canterbury magistrates. Both are due in Canterbury Crown Court on October 6.
