Mobility scooter crash in Canterbury Road, Herne Bay, kills 85-year-old woman

An 85-year-old woman has died after a crash between her mobility scooter and a car in Herne Bay.

The pensioner was seriously injured after the collision with a red Kia Rio near St Clement’s Court in Canterbury Road on Saturday morning.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene at 10am and the woman, who lived in the town, was taken to hospital, where she later died.

Her next of kin have been informed and police have launched an appeal for witnesses to the crash.

Sgt Chris Wade, of the serious collision investigation unit, said: “There may have been a stationary bus at the location at the time and we are especially keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle before the incident.”
