Police called to Herne Bay Junior School

Police were called to a primary school after a parent launched a verbal tirade at a teacher.

Officers visited Herne Bay Juniors in King's Road at about 10.50am yesterday.

While there, officers spoke with members of staff and the public.

Head teacher Melody Kingman issued a statement following the incident, stressing that no pupils were affected.

She said: "Due to a minor incident yesterday, it was necessary for children to be kept away from some areas of the school building.

"All children were kept safe and learning continued as normal."

KentOnline understands a parent had been "verbally abusive" towards a teacher and police were called.

Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

A spokesman added: "We attended a school in King's Road to prevent a possible breach of the peace.

"Officers attended and spoke with staff and members of the public."
