Former Cray Wanderers and Ebbsfleet United player Tom Phipp joins Herne Bay

Herne Bay have signed experienced midfielder Tom Phipp.

The 28-year-old is an exciting addition for the Isthmian League side, snapping up a player who helped Cray Wanderers to title success in 2019.

Phipp had previously played for Ebbsfleet, Margate and Tonbridge before taking a break from the game at the age of 24 to start a new career in marketing after completing a degree with first-class honours.

He has since enjoyed a spell at Cray and was last at Tonbridge Angels again for a second, short stint before the league was suspended.

Bay boss Ben Smith told the club: "Tom is a great addition to our squad, he’s got all the ingredients that we have been looking to add for some time and will really complement what we have.

"It’s another addition that has a wealth of experience and knows what it takes to be apart of a successful team."
