Crash in Stone Street, Hythe after driver 'dazzled' by oncoming car headlights

A young driver has escaped a crash near Hythe with just cuts and grazes after reportedly being 'dazzled' by an approaching car's headlights.

Kent Police Ashford took to Twitter last night to share the shocking image from the scene of the accident in Stone Street.

The photograph shows a red vehicle crushed and overturned on its roof.

Officers from Ashford went to assist patrols in Folkestone with the aftermath of the crash which happened just before 11.30pm.

The tweet read: "#LPT4 at Stone Street helping our neighbours @kentpoliceshep.

"A very lucky young lady to come out of this with cuts and grazes after being dazzled by an oncoming cars headlights. @SECAmbulance assisting."

A police spokesman said: "Officers attended the scene alongside crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service and a woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment to injuries that were not described as serious.

"A road closure was enforced to allow the safe recovery of the vehicle and this had been lifted by 1.30am this morning."
