Suspect in court accused of GBH after fight at The Fountain pub in Seabrook Road, Hythe

A suspect has appeared in court charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a fight in a pub garden.

His alleged victim was flown to a London hospital with a serious head injury after he was reportedly struck in the face during the altercation at The Fountain in Seabrook Road, Hythe.

Emergency services were called to the pub at around 11.20pm on Friday and a suspect was arrested in Folkestone around an hour later.

Mathew Chapman, of Kent Road in Folkestone, appeared before Folkestone Magistrates' Court today.

The 33-year-old was bailed to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on June 27.

His alleged victim remains in a London hospital in a serious condition.
