Patient, 88, 'left on trolley'

AN ELDERLY patient from Hythe who says he had to wait on a trolley in a crowded corridor at Ashford's William Harvey Hospital has had his case taken up by local MP Michael Howard.

Mr Howard was told 88-year-old John Sullivan of Reachfields collapsed at his home and was taken to the hospital on Monday March 18. He was put on a trolley where he stayed until Tuesday morning when he was taken to the assessment area.

A specialist saw him on Tuesday afternoon and he was taken to the ward on Tuesday evening.

Mr Howard said: "In all that time, Mr Sullivan was covered with only one blanket, was not given wash when he was soaked in his own urine and was not offered anything to eat."

The MP has written to the East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust asking for an explanation.
