A Kent firm played a key role in the star-studded wedding of the son of the richest man in India.

Business magnate Mukesh Ambani, who is worth an estimated £37 billion and is chairman of gas and oil giant Reliance Indstries, laid on a glitzy event for the marriage of his son Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta in Mumbai at the weekend.

Among the guests were former prime minister Tony Blair and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Live music came from the multi-million-selling band Maroon 5.

And the guests boogied the night away on a dance floor provided by Tunbridge Wells-based Harlequin Floors.

The UK-based company and distributor Puneet Mittal of Durafit Floors were approached by the event management company DNA Entertainment Network in February ahead of the spectacular event.

The Ambanis chose the firm's Harlequin Hi-Shine gold floor for the event - a surface widely used for TV and film production, concerts and fashion shows.

Artists who have used it in the past include the likes of Little Mix, One Direction, Lady Gaga, Will.i.am and Michael Bublé. It’s also been used on numerous TV shows including The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

The wedding was held at the Jio World Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex,Mumbai.

Other guests included Google CEO Sundar Pichai and film stars Rajinikanth and Priyanka Chopra.

It comes just three months after the lavish wedding of Mukesh’s daughter where Beyonce performed some of her biggest hits.
