More than 100 people have been inspired by the brave new world of digital.

Digital in Kent, the marketing, technology and social media conference staged in association with Kent Business, was launched in The Quarterhouse, Folkestone, last month. It attracted representatives from businesses of all sizes, aiming to inspire them to use digital tools better.

It featured keynote talks, practical workshops and networking opportunities, accompanied by beers and pizzas sponsored Sleeping Giant Media.

Jonnie Jensen ()below), founder of www.Live+Social.com, said: “It is no longer okay for companies not to have an internet, mobile and social media strategy.

“The opportunities to improve your business and reach customers all over the world means success depends on it. I want to inspire and motivate companies into action.

“The status of Kent and the success of our local economy depends on it – that’s why the success of Digital In Kent means so much to me.”

Mr Jensen was a keynote speaker, along with Tony Fish, Thomas Power and Simon Coulston. Topics included Big Data, Social Media and Company Culture, Google+ and The Importance of Communities, and Creating Digital Content to Grow Your Business.

Kent-based digital companies Zoe Cairns Social Media, WebScapeSEO, Sleeping Giant Media and Live+Social chaired the sessions.

Richard Knox Johnston, chairman of Silicon Aspire, said: “I came hoping for knowledge that could improve our online presence.

“Not only did I get that but I have seen how the internet, social media and content can fundamentally help me improve the prospects for our business.”

The second Digital in Kent will be held in October.
