From fun activities, to the latest technology and inspiring teaching staff, there's so much on offer for children attending Oasis Academy Skinner Street.

The primary academy, which is committed to delivering exceptional education to children from four to 11 in the heart of Gillingham, has recently boosted both its facilities and its staff for its youngest pupils in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

New facilities aren't just confined to the classroom, as there is a new secret garden for children to play in.

Joining the team as EYFS Lead is Lauren Wright, who is injecting new life and high aspirations into the department.

The team also has its own Speech and Language trained Teaching Assistant, Katie Lucy, who works with pupils on a one-to-one basis, offering them the specialised support they need at this crucial stage of their development.

Lauren said: "I'm really excited to join Oasis Academy Skinner Street.

"I aim to provide all children with a safe and stimulating learning environment that builds upon their individual wants, needs and interests. I believe learning should be fun, engaging, and challenging for all pupils and look forward to all the things we have planned this year."

The school has also given every pupil an iPad as part of its Horizons programme, which was rolled out earlier this year, ensuring they have an equal footing and the tools they need to excel in their learning and personal development.

During the lockdown period, specialised online learning packs encouraged 'screen free Fridays' at home so pupils could put down their laptops and try more hands-on tasks such as baking their favourite cakes, drawing their favourite food, and talking with their families about what they like to eat.

The school also purchased and delivered a unique programme of 'Keepmi' boxes for families, full of activity packs and materials for everyone to get involved in.
