GKR Scaffolding to shift HQ from Medway City Estate to Tower Bridge Road, London

A scaffolding business is shifting its headquarters from Medway to central London.

GKR Scaffolding, formed in 1994 by brothers Lee and Neil Rowswell, started life in Meopham before moving to Gravesend and most recently had its HQ on the Medway City Estate in Rochester.

But as work in the capital has grown, it has expanded and after leasing office space has now purchased an office in Tower Bridge Road.

It will be the company's new headquarters and registered office.

It will retain Independent House in Medway as the Kent office and depot.

It currently centres its materials, logistics and fleet of lorries in the county.

Currently working on projects which include Battersea Power Station, Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium, the Royal Albert Hall and the Lawn Tennis Association at Wimbledon, the company secured finance for the new building through Barclays.

GKR managing director Neil Rowswell said: “Our growth has been signposted by our investment in premises and office space. Being able to purchase a new HQ in a prestigious London location defines how far we have come and our place in the market we operate in."

The company now employs more than 400 staff and has an annual turnover of some £35 million.
