Sign is fine, says inspector

A BATTLE over a sign advertising its new premises has been won by a relocated store.

Halfords recently moved from Sittingbourne High Street to the retail park at Mill Way.

It asked Swale Council for permission to put up a 4.75 metres by one metre banner sign. The councillors said no.

But a government inspector who heard Halfords appeal said the sign would not be too large, would not stand out and would not be intrusive. He said yes.

The council had argued it would make the retail estate look cluttered. Halfords now has permission to display the sign for five years.
