Inaugural Medway Business and Skills Showcase to take place at MidKent College in Gillingham on April 10

A major new business event to help buoy Medway’s £5.9 billion economy will take place next month.

The inaugural Medway Business and Skills Showcase will be hosted by MidKent College, in Gillingham, on Wednesday, April 10.

The free event is aimed at all businesses in Medway, whether they are just starting out or already well-established.

It will include talks from business experts, workshops and drop-in advice sessions in addition to exhibitors and networking opportunities.

It will run from 8.30am to 4.15pm.

Cllr Lauren Edwards, Medway Council’s portfolio holder for economic regeneration and inward investment, said: “Medway has an economy worth £5.9bn and we have more than 14,000 businesses here.

“We are committed to supporting all of them as best as we can. This event is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Medway’s diverse business community and for business owners across Medway to learn new skills, network with each other, promote their business and find out about the range of support on offer.”

Ahead of the event, design art students at the college were challenged to create a logo for the event,

Mentored by Rochester-based marketing agency Clockwork Moggy, to help create their entries. Megan Mackenzie’s design was judged to be the winning design.

Cllr Edwards added: “There are so many talented students studying across Medway, and I want to thank all of the students at MidKent College who took part in this competition.”

The event is sponsored by Multiply (Skills for Life), Careers and Enterprise Company, Build, Think it Simple Ltd and KentOnline.
