The 20-year-old man who died in a crash on Pilgrims Way on Wednesday night has been named as Luke Jay Mumford.
Mr Mumford, of Maidstone, was driving his blue Vauxhall Corsa on the road between Eccles and Blue Bell Hill at around 5.40pm when tragedy struck.
The former Maplesden Noakes pupil's car mounted a steep bank shortly after the road splits in two and flipped over, landing on its roof in a nearby field.
The graphic design student, who passed his driving test last month, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Luke's dad, Jason Mumford, has posted on his Facebook page about the tragedy, writing: "RIP to my 20-year-old son who died on Wednesday in a car crash. So sweet and talented. Love always, Dad xx"
Police are appealing for information following the accident and are urging anyone who saw the car in the Eccles area in the minutes before the crash to come forward.
A report of Mr Mumford's death has been passed to the coroner and an inquest is expected to open next week.
