Addington Village took a massive step toward the Shepherd Neame Kent League Division 4 title after a one-wicket win over nearest rivals Old Elthamians on Saturday.

Elthamians went into the game as the only side with a realistic chance of preventing Addington from taking the title, but it looked all over after they were dismissed for just 149 in the face of some good bowling from Duncan Brown (4-33) and Dan Walton (3-48).

But Addington found scoring equally difficult on the Foxbury wicket and only just scampered home on 152-9 thanks to an unbeaten 13 from No.10 Walton.

The Mote’s bid to win promotion from Division 1 suffered a blow at the hands of Tenterden bowler Mark Baker.

Baker ripped The Mote’s batting apart, taking 7-37 from 14 overs – the best bowling performance in Division 1 this season – as the visitors to Morghew Park were restricted to 146-9.

Tenterden then reached their target with nearly five overs and five wickets to spare.

Offham jolted Old Wilsonians’ charge at the top of Division 5 with a nine-wicket success.

After dismissing OWs for 144, with Simon Hallbrook and Phil Blakeburn both taking three wickets, they coasted to victory in 39.1 overs thanks to an unbeaten second-wicket stand of 126 between Ben Gittings (56 not out) and Tom Gittings (52 not out).
