Thousands of schoolchildren learnt about farming and agriculture at the Kent Showground's Living Land event

Almost 3,000 children immersed themselves in country living, learning where their food comes from.

The Living Land event, held at the Kent Showground in Detling, is a mini version designed specially for schoolchildren of the Kent County Show, which will be held on Friday, July 10, Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12.

Some 2,800 pupils from 52 primary schools across the county got to bake their own bread and spin their own yarn, as well as taste food and drink produced locally and see farm machinery.

They also got to meet animals of all shapes, sizes and species, from bees to lambs and cattle.

The event is run by the Kent County Agricultural Society and is its flagship educational event.
