Armed police carry out early morning raid at Park Wood estate in Maidstone

Armed police were spotted on a housing estate in the early hours of this morning.

Officers with guns were seen at the Park Wood estate in Maidstone at about 2am.

The police action took place near Collington Terrace and Chestnut Close

A police spokesman said the force was called at around 10.30pm last night to a report of a man seen in possession of a weapon in Chestnut Close, Maidstone.

He said: "Officers attended and arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He remains in custody.

"An air weapon was seized from a property at the scene and further searches are ongoing today."
