Driver arrested after officers spot Peugeot linked to high value shoplifting offences in Maidstone

A man has been arrested after officers stopped a car which was linked to several high value shoplifting offences.

The Peugeot was spotted and seized by officers on patrol in Maidstone on February 4.

Police were called to two reports of shoplifting from a business in Eclipse Park, Maidstone.

At 1.17pm and 3.16pm, the suspect is reported to have entered the store and stolen high value lights.

The next day , a 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft and driving while disqualified.

The suspect remains on bail to return to the police station on April 15.

A tweet from Kent Police Maidstone read: "This Peugeot was used in several high value shopliftings was spotted by the Maidstone Sergeant whilst on patrol this morning.

"It’s driver is now settling into custody for theft & driving whilst disqualified."
