Gravesend man arrested after series of overnight thefts from cars around Bearsted, Weavering and Downswood in Maidstone

A suspect has been arrested after a series of overnight thefts from cars.

The 30-year-old, from Gravesend, was arrested on suspicion of theft, interfering with a motor vehicle and criminal damage.

The man was spoken to by police in the early hours of today (Feb 27) when constables stopped a cyclist travelling along Ashford Road

He was pursued into the town centre where he was detained in Marsham Street and then taken into custody.

The arrest comes after residents in areas around Weavering, Downswood and Bearsted reported their vehicles being targeted and property stolen whille parked overnight.
