Arrest after man assaulted in Lower Stone Street, Maidstone

A Maidstone resident has been arrested after a man was left his head injuries following an attack in the town.

Officers were called to Lower Stone Street at its junction with Palace Avenue, at around 8.30pm on Saturday after a man was assaulted next to some benches.

The victim, a man in his forties, was taken to a local hospital for treatment to a head injury. He has since been discharged.

Later that day, a 38-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody.

He was bailed to return to the police station next month.
