Art students celebrate graduation in style

TOMORROW'S artists, clothes designers, architects, film directors and engineers have been celebrating their graduation from the Kent Institute of Art and Design.

About 350 students from the college including 100 from the campus at Oakwood Park, Maidstone and their partners attended a leavers' ball at Brands Hatch, West Kingsdown, last Thursday.

They toasted the end of their undergraduate courses by dressing up in tuxedos and ball gowns. The night included a dinner and entertainment by the Michael Jackson Experience dancing troupe and the jazz band Ronnie Scott's Rejects.

DJs then took over for the rest of the night. The college runs undergraduate, postgraduate and evening courses in art and design.

Many of the students will go on to take postgraduate courses, hoping to follow in the footsteps of former KIAD students such as top fashion designer Karen Millen and artist Tracey Emin.
