Arts college could be on the move

One of Kent's university colleges has unveiled plans for a major new campus in the county - but it could spell the end of its presence in its current home town.

The University College for the Creative Arts is considering moving out of Oakwood Park, in Tonbridge Road, Maidstone, as part of its ambitious plans for a £75million campus in Kent.

Maidstone council is keen to see the new multi-million pound campus, which could house up to 9,000 students, built in the county town and has been holding meetings with the university about the proposals.

A spokesman for the university said sites in the Thames Gateway and Medway were also being considered.
