It was a treat for photographers and plane enthusiasts today as historic warplanes took advantage of the clear blue skies.

A Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane were spotted in the skies over Kent today, having taken off from Headcorn Aerodrome.

The planes are usually used for special flight experiences, in which people pay for flights in the iconic aircraft.

However today saw another experience offered to photographers, who got to ride in a Bell helicopter alongside the two Second World War vehicles.

Headcorn Aerodrome owner Jamie Freeman noted that the 'ride-alongside' experiences were a rarity, specially put on due to the number of photographers visiting.

The 'ride-in' experiences are available most weekends, and although their prices might be a bit steep for some, it is certainly on a lot of people's bucket list.

Prices start at £2,750 for a 20-minute flight in NH341 Code DB-E, which downed two enemy planes over Normandy in June 1944.

Flights take in the sights of The White Cliffs of Dover and English Channel, including a fly-past of the Battle Of Britain Memorial.

Alternatively, you can pay £3,250 for a 30-minute flight, during which you spend 10 minutes in formation with another Spitfire.

Other options are also available, including flight training in historic aircraft before riding in a Spitfire.
