During the same night a car radio, satellite navigation device and steering wheel were stolen from a BMW parked in Northway.

Inspector Mark Hedges said: "While we carry out inquiries into these reports I would urge residents to remain vigilant and report anybody acting suspiciously during the hours of darkness by calling call 101 or 999 in an emergency.

"I would also advise all car owners in the Penenden Heath area and specifically BMW owners to park their cars in a well-lit place, on a driveway or in a garage overnight if possible."
