A man has been found dead in a Kent town centre.

Police were called at 9.22am today (May 13), to an alleyway near the Premier Inn along London Road, Maidstone.

Officers attended along with ambulance and fire crews, but a man in his 40's was declared deceased at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed, a police spokesman said.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

An ambulance service spokesman said: "We were called to a location near London Road, Maidstone at approximately 9.25am today.

"Ambulance crews attended where a man was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene."
