A teenage boy from Dover is in line for a top award for his success in trampolining, despite suffering from cystic fibrosis.

Cameron Saltmer, 16, has been nominated for a Breathing Life Award in the Junior Sport category.

Cameron will be attending the star-studded awards ceremony at the Hilton Metropole in London on May 28.

The awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of inspiring people that have cystic fibrosis which is the UK’s most common life-threatening inherited disease.

The nomination says Cameron shows strength and determination and never lets it get him down.

He is currently studying for his GCSEs and looks like getting good results.

Cameron’s main achievement has been competing at a national level in trampolining. Last summer, Cameron qualified ahead of many people for the national finals held in Birmingham and finished sixth overall in the under 17s category.

He was also awarded the Southeast Trampoline Special Achievers’ Award nominated by his coach. The trampolining has also helped with Cameron’s health. Cameron spends every day doing something to the full and never just sitting back and asking why him.

There are 21 nominees for the awards from across the country.
