A Maidstone nightclub has re branded a controversial clown-themed party it was due to hold this Friday.

The Source bar, in Rose Yard, announced on Sunday that this week's Get Sourced night would see face painting stalls set up and clown masks given out.

This caused outrage on social media, with many people calling the venue irresponsible for encouraging revellers to dress as the circus characters at a time when the 'killer clown' craze is sweeping the county.

The club billed the event as the perfect way to kick start the half term holiday and build on the hype of Halloween, inviting guests to comment #CLOWNS to secure drinks offers.

However, the night has now been rebranded as a circus-themed party, although clowns still do feature on the logo.
