A council have today applied for a court order to move travellers off a community recreation ground.
Caravans arrived at Gatland Park in Fant, Maidstone, on Monday.
After a visit from Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) officers for a site assessment, they were ordered to leave by 3pm yesterday.
Matt Boughton, borough councillor for Fant, confirmed yesterday evening that the travellers were still on site past this deadline, and this morning confirmed MBC would be going to court to get a court order to move them on.
He said: "This is because the group failed to leave the site by 3pm yesterday as the eviction notice stated. Should the court order be granted, the travellers will hopefully move off by the end of the day, and if not then very early tomorrow morning.
"Maidstone Borough Council will be asking the police to attend with council officers to minimise disruption to the local community."
The group now has until 10am tomorrow to leave.
