A crash in Royal Engineers' Road, Maidstone, near the Kent History and Library Centre, caused delays in the town

A two-vehicle crash caused delays in Maidstone town centre today.

The incident happened near the Kent History and Library Centre, off Royal Engineers' Road, just before 2.30pm.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service sent two crews to the scene after it was reported a person was trapped in one of the cars.

The casualty had been released by paramedics by the time the firefighters had arrived.

The extent of their injuries are not yet known.

The incident caused heavy congestion until the road was cleared at about 3.20pm.

Officers Kent Police were in attendance.
