Delays after fire incident closes Loose Road in Maidstone

A busy road leading into a town centre was closed following an incident involving the fire service.

Drivers experienced delays along the A229 Loose Road in Maidstone.

Firefighters were called at around 2.33pm to a property.

Two fire engines and a height vehicle attended and helped assist ambulance crews.

Police also confirmed they were at the scene.

It is understood the road was closed in both directions and reopened at around 4pm.

Kent County Council Highways warned drivers to expect delays.

On X, formally known as Twitter, they said: “There is slow-moving traffic on the A229 Loose Road between Sheals Crescent and Cripple Street.”

The ambulance service has been contacted for more information.
