Drivers were forced to contend with traffic jams after a crash involving a car and a van on a busy route.

The incident happened shortly before 8.30am on the southbound carriageway of the A229 Blue Bell Hill near junction 5 of the M20.

Motorists were warned to expect delays of 15-20 minutes but traffic conditions have since returned to normal.

Police arrived at the scene and closed the road but opened one lane shortly afterwards.

Paramedics rushed to the scene, with one person injured.
