A teenage burglar trapped by DNA on gloves left at the scene has been warned he is facing substantial youth custody.
Nathan Saunders ransacked the house in Ragstone Road, Bearsted, and stacked up property ready to take it away.
Maidstone Crown Court heard the 19-year-old had previously broken into the home in early in 2005.
Saunders, of Lenside Drive, Bearsted, claimed he was not responsible for the latest burglary on New Year’s Eve, claiming he was in Cranbook with his girlfriend at the time.
He said he had been out shopping and realised his black woollen gloves were missing. “I did not own them on New Year’s Eve,” he added.
Saunders had several previous convictions for burglary. He had always admitted his guilt, he said, but this time he was innocent.
He was remanded in custody for three weeks for a pre-sentence report.
