When flooding prevented a linesman from getting to a football match this evening, fans were asked to step in.
An appeal had to be made to the crowd before tonight's Under-23s game at Maidstone United after the official's train was cancelled because of a flood on the line.
The plea was made via the stadium's PA system by club secretary Ian Tucker.
He said: "You've got a chance in the crowd to get involved tonight because due to flooding on the Maidstone East line we are lacking a linesman.
"So if you've ever fancied running down the side of this pitch with a flag in your hand – it's a thing that must go through your mind several times a day – now is your chance.
"We are looking for a linesman or a lineslady or a linesperson to step up and help us out tonight.
"So if you are qualified, happy days."
The club published a tweet saying: "Reasons why you should always bring your boots to a game no. 76....".
It also thanked "Jake" for stepping in.
The Stones' Under-23s were playing Folkestone in a friendly at The Gallagher, where the 3G pitch meant the game could go ahead despite the storm that left much of Maidstone under water this afternoon.
