Eight face charges after Yalding robbery investigation

A man has been charged with robbery and firearms offences following an early morning incident which left a man with stab wounds.

An investigation was launched after police officers and the South East Coast Ambulance Service were called to Benover Road, Yalding in the early hours of March 16.

A man in his 30s was treated at the scene for serious injuries and taken to a London hospital for further medical attention.

Yesterday, Kodee Powell, of no fixed address was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear.

Jhabril Freeman, 41, of Barry Road, East Dulwich, was previously also charged with the same offences.

In connection with the investigation, Asif Malik, 41 of Bluebell Way, Ilford, Essex, Amy Wallace, 30, of Lancashire Road, Maidstone, and Thea Smitherman, 27, of Hughenden Reach, Maidstone were charged with assisting an offender.

All will appear before Maidstone Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Investigators previously arrested and charged Marlon Manning, 42, of The Green, Bearsted, Stephan Allen, 24, of Rosebury Square, Chigwell, Essex, and Robert Powell, 48, of Cumberland Road, Grays, Essex with conspiracy to commit robbery and with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear.

All were remanded to Maidstone Crown Court on 10 September.
