Sheep attacked by crows as a newborn goes on to be a mum herself

A ewe that had to have her face reconstructed after being attacked by crows when she was newborn has gone on to have a lamb of her own.

Veronica, as she was named by owner Lizzie Offen, had to have surgery on her mouth after crows swooped and pecked at her tongue minutes after she was born in 2019 on a farm in Sutton Valence, Maidstone.

Her fiesty 16-year-old mum had stepped in to protect her when the crows attacked, and a vet was called. She had surgery to repair the wound soon after, and went on to make a full recovery.

Now 19 months old, Veronica delivered her own newborn, a male, a few days ago.

Lizzie said: "You can still see the scar from her lip to her nose and she has a slightly wonky upper mouth part.

"But Veronica is being a great mum. I thought this might be some happy news."
