Danny Walder missed a second-half spot-kick as Tonbridge returned pointless from Farnborough in Blue Square Bet South on Saturday.

The Angels trailed 3-1 at half-time, despite taking an early lead through Mikel Suarez, but fell short in their second-half comeback despite a goal from ex-Gills midfielder Rory Hill.

Suarez put Tonbridge ahead in the first minute but Michael Charles equalised for the hosts and Farnborough skipper Orlando Jeffrey put the ahead inside the first 15 minutes.

The points appeared to be safe for the home side on the stroke of half-time when Phillip Page scored from a corner after lapse Tonbridge defending.

Hill pulled one back with 20 minutes remaining as the Angels dominated the second half but failed to find an equaliser.

The closest they went was when Walder stepped up to take the penalty - in place ot Frannie Collin who missed the match through illness - but saw his spot-kick saved by Farnborough keeper Craig Bradshaw.

Tonbridge are at home to Boreham Wood on Monday night in Blue Square Bet South.

Meanwhile, Bromley won at home in Blue Square Bet South for the first time since August, beating play-off hopefuls Chelmsford 1-0 at Hayes Lane on Saturday.

Hakeem Araba's 62nd-minute goal proved the difference as Mark Goldberg's men moved themselves further clear of relegation battle at the wrong end of the table.

Albert Jarrett and Araba went close for the home side in the first half while Ricky Modeste saw his effort hit the woodwork in the second half. The only goal came when Araba was sent clean through and he slotted beyond keeper Stuart Searle and the hosts comfortably held on for three vital points.
