The development of 25 homes for rent known as The Hardwicks, off Grigg Lane, is only available to people with a proven connection to the village.

The Hardwicks form part of a wider development which includes a new location for the Headcorn doctor’s surgery.

Chris Blundell, Golding Homes’ director, said: "There is an urgent need for affordable housing in rural communities.

"We have received a lot of interest in the properties and we are looking forward to seeing tenants move in."

Lyn Selby, chairman of Headcorn Parish Council, said: "This development was needed in Headcorn, so we are pleased that it is complete. The houses are spacious, well designed and have a good finish with high quality windows and fittings."
